March Challenge #29

31-day-blog-challenge-march-2013-1

Challenge #29.)  What is my favorite time of year and why?...

My favorite time of year is Autumn! Here in Bakersfield Autumn brings a much needed brake from the scorching heat, and besides that all of our apples, pumpkins, lavender, and squash are ready to be harvested!
I was born in fall... My birthday, Jackie's birthday, and Olivia's birthday all land in the month of October.
At church we have Cowboy Sunday, Missions Conference, Pumpkin Sunday and our Harvest Carnival in the fall.
All in all,  Autumn is our busiest season!

March Challenge #23, #24, #25

31-day-blog-challenge-march-2013-1

Okay, let's start with today's challenge...
#25.) Describe my location... I guess that's referring to where I live.

Well, I live in Bakersfield ,ca in the San Joaquin Valley. The land of agriculture.
If you were to look at a map of California you would see that the state has a great big valley running up and down the center... Bakersfield is located in the southern end of this valley. We live about 2 to 3 hours north of Los Angeles, 5 hours south of San Francisco, 3 hours east of Pismo Beach, and 2 hours west of the Mojave Desert!

#24.)  Describe my most embarrassing moment...

Wow! I've had like a million "most embarrassing" moments! The challenge here would be picking one point in time...  hmm...
Ah, here's a good one! Once, when I was about 14 years old, I was at church carrying a crate of papers from the nursery room to our truck outside. No big deal, right? Well, I was wearing a wrap around skirt, which is like wearing a towel around your legs with a tie at the hip! Can you see where this is going?  Yeah, so, I'm walking through the hallway when I feel my skirt falling away, and to make matters worse a group of guys from our teen group were walking towards me!! Instead of dropping the crate and drawing more attention to myself, I pressed it against my waist to hold my skirt on long enough for the guys to pass. Eventually I found a secluded spot to put the crate down and retie my stupid skirt that just about ruined me! I must have looked like an idiot walking around with a full crate and a split open skirt! Story of my life, looking like an idiot! Anyway that's only one of my most embarrassing moments.

   #23.) Do I have a hobby?

Can't say that I do... unless you would consider cooking a hobby. I like cooking.

World Landmarks

Some of the places that are on my bucket list to visit!

The Burj Al Arab in Dubai...

The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France...

Jerusalem, Israel...

and  The Pyramids in Egypt...

March Challenge #22

31-day-blog-challenge-march-2013-1

Today's Challenge... What do I do when I'm home alone?   ALONE?!

I have five younger siblings!! Four, of which, are home schooled. I'm never home alone...
But, if I were I'd probably read, take a long hot shower, or simply enjoy the peace and quiet.

March Challenge #20 and #21...

31-day-blog-challenge-march-2013-1

Okay, let's see...

#20.) What do I collect?

I like to collect books, mostly classic books like: Treasure Island, Gone With the Wind, Tom Sawyer, Jane Eyre, Robin Hood, etc.     Oh! and I like to collect Joel Rosenberg's books... I still have to read his latest, Damascus Countdown! Yeah... I really need to get my hands on that one! It's from his Twelfth Imam series. You have to read the series, it's beyond awesome! I kind of have a crush on the main character, David Shirazi.

#21.) What is my biggest fear?

Hmm... I'm kind of hesitant in saying. My Pop always told me not to let my fear show...  ( I call my Dad, Pop)

Well, I guess it would be okay to admit that my biggest fear would be something tragic happening to one of my family members.  I'm very protective of those I love. When something happens to them and there's nothing I can do to help... I freak out.  Who wouldn't, right?

March Challenge #15, #16, #17

31-day-blog-challenge-march-2013-1

Wow, wow, wow!!!  I've already missed a day in the challenge!
Okay, so, right now I'm gonna post for yesterday, today, and tomorrow. (I'll be at church all day tomorrow)

   Challenge #17
Why and when did I start blogging?...  I think I created my blog account in December of last year. I decided to start blogging to get more "publicity" for my Etsy shop, and now it's the most fun part of running my biz! : )

  Challenge #16
What is my biggest accomplishment?... Hmm, I think my biggest accomplishment would have to be owning an Etsy shop... It is so awesome to have people from all over THE WORLD viewing my inventory, and showing interest in things that I've made! I get goose bumps every time I check my biz stats and see that someone from Israel, or Germany, or Japan, etc. have been viewing my shop! Being able to reach the whole world with my shop has to be my biggest accomplishment.  Way Cool!

   Challenge #15
List ten things that make me awesome... Uhh, I don't really think that I'm awesome... so... I'm going to bend this challenge a bit and post Ten People That I Think Are Awesome!!!  Here we go!

2.) Condoleeza Rice (former Secretary of State)

7.) George W. Bush  (former President of the United States)

8.) David Sharazi (main character in The Twelvth Imam book series)

9.) Bro. David Sloan and Family  (missionaries to Israel and Ukraine)

Andrea Bocelli

The Tenors

Jackie Evanco

Josh Groban

Solvang, CA

In one of Tuesday's posts I was telling you a little about my favorite little city in California... Solvang!   I dug up some pictures to show you just how awesome it is. : )

Shops along Alisal Road

Solvang is so much fun! They have an outdoor theater in the summer, horse drawn wagon rides through town on the weekends, and plenty of attractive shops with delicious smelling bakeries weaved in between.
I love walking around the shops towards the evening when the day starts to settle down. People from all over the world visit Solvang, and when it's less crowded you can really hear all of the different languages being spoken!  It's pretty cool!
So, if you're ever in California you should definitely visit Solvang.

March Challenge #13

31-day-blog-challenge-march-2013-1

Today's challenge!... Do I have regret? Yes.
I believe everyone has some regret for something they did, or didn't do, or said, or didn't say.
We're human, we're sinners, we fall short. I am grateful, though, for a God in heaven who can forgive me of all of my faults and mistakes weather done intentionally or unintentionally. Because of my God I can go to Him, ask for forgiveness, turn from my wrong doing, and go on through life WITHOUT THE WEIGHT OF REGRET!  Thank LORD JESUS for your love and mercy!

Do you have regret?   I know someone who can help you with your burden, no matter how big...

March Challenge #12

31-day-blog-challenge-march-2013-1

Hmm... Something that I miss...  Right now I miss my home away from home Solvang,ca. My parents are part owners of a condo resort there and we usually visit every late summer/ fall. We always have a blast going to the beach in the afternoon and then spending time in our little dutch city in the evening. I miss the little town atmosphere and my fav. store The Rainbow Tea Shop! Oh! and the Leaning Tower of Pizza... they make the best gluten-free pizza there!

I also miss my grandpa, Elmer A. Castro. He past away March 4, 2011. I miss listening to him and my dad talk about politics, and playing cards with him... He thought the world about my brother and sisters and I. Yeah... I really miss grandpa.

Well, that's today's challenge! Looking forward to the rest. : )

March blog challenge!

Surfing in the Arctic?!!!

I was checking tomorrow's weather on MSN.com and found these pics at the bottom of the page.
Check it out!

They're surfing off a remote beach in the Arctic!!! How crazy is that?!
The scenery is gorgeous, but... come on! It has to be wicked cold out there!
